itunes11 iTunes Disc Burning error disc burner in use by another programI tried burning a playlist Id just made to a CD in iTunes 11 and got the error message:

“disc burner in use by another program”

Id only put the CD in and couldnt see any other apps running which might be using the burner, except maybe Finder was doing something with it?

SOLUTION:

If you get the same error, simply eject the blank disc, then tell iTunes to burn the playlist before inserting the CD again.  It seems once iTunes is waiting for the disc then everything goes as planned.

Aroona.net VideoDrive2 Software

I was doing a search on an old Nokia mobile phone testing out Binu search, for aroona.

I hadnt come across aroona.net before and it turns out its a domain being used by a software company called Aroona.
I thought Id try out this app they make called VideoDrive2.  Its software which enables you to watch your movies in iTunes, without needing to convert them to the iTunes preferred format.  Looks really useful!

WARNING! Apple Store Hacked – Check Your Account

Well bad news in my email this morning. iTunes Account Hacked.  Overnight an app had been downloaded by someone to a device not mine then purchased $36.50 of something, cleaning my account out.

I logged straight into my iTunes account and changed my password and found that someone had downloaded a free app called “Kingdom Quest” from Sega then made in app purchases totalling $36.50 – leaving me with an iTunes Store account balance of $1.54.

The Sequence
First I knew was an email from Apple advising that my iTunes Store account had changes to Name and Credit card information.  Next was an email from Apple advising that the Kingdom Quest app had been downloaded to a previously unauthorised device.  Last, an email advising about the in-app purchases in Kingdom Quest.

Each email advises changing iTunes Account passwords if it wasnt a genuine account holder purchase.

Well, too late Apple.  Looking on your website I find that this has been going on since November 2010.  In the Apple forums there are more than 1500 comments over 101 webpages with over 230000 views on this same iTunes Store hack.  It has reached the media here.

I normally read of peoples Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Paypal, eBay etc etc accounts being hacked and somehow always feel immune to it.  Well when it happens its not good.

Change your passwords regularly. Dont share them. Make them secure.

Moodle Registration Based on Specific Email domain

I wanted to enable users to register in a course based on their email address.

It toom me ages to find where in Moodle administration the setting is.  I did the usual search Moodle.org forums, then the web, eventually finding it.  For users to register in a Moodle course and only be able to self-enrol based on a specific email address domain go to:

Site Administration > Plugins > Authentication > Manage authentication.)

Scroll down to the Allowed Email Domains field and enter the allowed domains without the @ symbol.
